Red Billed Gull on Rocks – NZ Birdlife
Stock Footage NZ Birdlife Red Billed Gull is the most common of gulls to be found in NZ. Red-billed gulls are found all around the New Zealand coast. They are a similar size to the black-billed gull, and the two can be confused at the juvenile stage. But the adults with their red beaks and legs are easily identified.
Red-billed gulls breed between October and December in large densely packed colonies on sand spits, boulder banks, shell banks, gravel beaches, rocky headlands and rocky islets. The nest, built mostly by the male with only a small input from the female, is composed of dry grass, seaweed, twigs and feathers
